Julien Courtois, 'Ancestral' 2017

Availability: In stock

Equal parts cot and ungrafted gamay with a small amount of gascon, partners Julien Courtois and Heidi Kuka have created a silky, red fruit-forward blend from the clay and silex of Solonge in the Loire Valley. Following in the natural winemaking footsteps of Julien's father Claude, the grapes were harvested at the end of September and fermented spontaneously for nearly a month before aging in old Burgundy barriques for an additional 18 months.  The bottles are finished with labels hand drawn by Heidi, inspired by the untamed terroir of the domaine.
